archive copies of your backups

The ‘on-exit’ pop-up of the popular TurboCash accounting system advises users that:

“It is good practice to make regular backups and archive copies of your Sets of Books to prevent loss of data.”

Is the phrase ‘archive copies of your Sets of Books’ merely a restatement of the reminder to make regular backups or does it mean something more practical?

There are at least two interpretations:
FIRST that a ‘backup’ is independent of the actual bookset data and should be performed regularly, while archives are made of the actual booksets. See the post on Rainbow backups for more on this thread; or
SECOND that booksets should be backed up regularly, and these backups should be kept apart from the live data as an archive: a library of different backups.

MrBackup’s data storage profile allows for multiple discrete backups to be kept: MrBackup keeps an archive of your data! Each such discrete backup is identified by a unique date stamp, allowing recovery of data to that specific Point-in-Time.

MrBackup can access the FireBird command line utilities packaged with TurboCash to make the backup process quick, easy and painless.

MrBackup users have peace of mind knowing that their data is backed up regularly, and that a library of multiple, unique, discrete copies of their data exist on a secure, remote data storage server.

A typical MrBackup data storage profile will include multiple daily backups, as well as multiple month-end and at least one annual backup set to be kept for various periods. Not just a backup, many backups!
